UAEREP’s International Forum set to be an ADSW 2019 highlight

Abu Dhabi, 06 December: The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science’s 3rd International Rain Enhancement Forum (3rd IREF) will take place at the 2019 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) on 14-17 January.

Hosted by the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), which also manages the Program, this annual event brings together international researchers, investors and stakeholders to discuss new scientific and technological advances related to water security. As one of the leading global platforms in its field, the Forum already has an eminent reputation for facilitating the exchange of the latest ideas and insights related to innovative science and technology in this important and growing field. In addition to invited VIP guests and speakers, the Forum is also open to ADSW attendees.

Dr Abdulla Al Mandous, the Director of NCM, said: “As a regular annual event, this forum is structured to aid productive discussion between our awardees and the many leading scientists in attendance on the broadest possible range of topics related to rain enhancement science. The National Center of Meteorology is proud to host this event as a dedicated platform at ADSW for the global rain enhancement community to share the ideas and insights on this important research field and help shape the agenda for further scientific advances in the years to come.”

The event’s sessions will showcase the progress and achievements of the Program’s 9 awarded projects, led by multinational awardees from China, Finland, Germany, Japan, Russia, the United Arab Emirates the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, over the past three years. These will include the final research outcomes of the 3 projects from the Program’s 1st Cycle.

As one of the highlights of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the 3rd IREF will be honored by the presence of a distinguished audience of UAE government and international representatives. The event is also expected to generate significant local and international media coverage.

Launched by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs of the UAE, and managed by the NCM, the UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science’s advanced research and active global engagement is playing a major part in the global quest to address water security challenges.

Since it was launched under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Program has built up an eminent reputation as a leading international focal point for cutting-edge scientific advances based on the analysis and the application of new technologies to weather and clouds.
